E-PAPER

Seiko

POST AMEND Turns out this was designed by my friend Tota Hasegawa from Tomato. Seiko never gave him one though!

Since spotting this going round last week I’ve been thinking about e-paper a lot. We’re not going to be watching e-paper TV’s or even I imagine using it for PC screens. Apart from novelty items like this what else will it find application for I wonder? Invisibility suits perhaps or endless animated advertising hoardings? Let us know what you think

Seems obvious enough, it’s going to become the medium replacing all paper.
A portable unit matching all the advantages of a book (except cost) portability, readability and the changeability of electronic media

once it gets cheap enough, imagine riding a subway and picking up a discarded newspaper from yesterday. then imagine it updaiting itself to display today’s news. whole newspapers printed on 1 sheet of newsprint. there’s insane possibilites in the self-publishing arena as well. then there’s always the animated cereal boxes a’ la ‘minority report’ . it’s all very exciting.
